NEW YORK CITY

In total, the five boroughs of New York City (the Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, and Staten Island) make up what many would agree is one of the greatest cities in the world. Among the city’s landmark highlights are the Statue of Liberty, Wall Street, Madison Square Garden, Coney Island, and the famous skyscrapers and bridges as well as Central Park. Surrounding cities and areas also contribute significantly to the New York oeuvre.

The NYSE is the largest stock exchange market in the world. Its expansion after WW II helped raise New York to a city status ranking with the likes of London, Paris, Berlin, Moscow, Beijing, Tokyo, and Mexico City.

The U.S. Open Grand Slam professional tennis event is a major occurrence in the New York area, attracting heavy tourism and celebrity sightings. Other sports with much heralded histories include the NBA Knicks and the NFL Giants and Jets and the MLB Mets. Of course there is that other professional sports team in New York that seems to make constant headlines in one way or another: the New York Yankees. Their rivalry with the nearby Boston Red Sox is nearly legendary, having lost only once to them while parading towards the World Series in an upset that gave fans a look at the greatest comeback in professional sports history. Their battle reigns on today.
